A Night of Junipers and “Snap That Tree” Fun!

This month, the South Yorkshire Bonsai Society branch kicked off a spectacular evening focused entirely on the art of the juniper. Members brought in some fantastic specimens, sharing styling tips, wiring techniques, and maintenance advice throughout the workshop.

But the creativity didn’t stop with the shears. As a special side theme for the evening, we launched our first-ever “Snap That Tree” photography session!

A Huge Thank You to Trevor Neal!!

Club member Trevor Neal generously stepped up as our official photographer for the night. Armed with his camera, Trevor worked tirelessly to capture our members’ prized trees in their best light. It turned out to be an absolute blast, adding a wonderful buzz of energy and fun to the entire evening.

Thanks to Trevor’s keen eye, some truly amazing images were captured, showcasing the intricate details and hard work that go into our club’s bonsaiOn behalf of the entire club, we would like to extend a massive thank you to Trevor for his time, effort, and fantastic photography skills!

May Fayre display at Western Park

The ancient Far Eastern art of bonsai took over Weston Park on a wet weekend in May as the South Yorkshire Bonsai Society (SYBS) unveiled its highly anticipated annual public exhibition at the Weston Park May Fayre.

The green expanses of the park, usually populated by local dog walkers and students, were transformed into an open-air gallery of miniature natural wonders. Hundreds of visitors dropped by the the society’s marquee to marvel at of meticulously styled, living sculptures

The society’s showcase wasn’t just about showing off finished masterpieces; it was designed to be highly educational. Members were on hand throughout the day to demystify the art form, explaining the vital roles of specialized pruning, structural wiring, feeding and watering regimes

thanks to all the SYBS Team
